In Praise of Joe Wilson

Yes, these are the times that try men's souls, and women's too, but that's not all. These are the times that try our souls, bring us to tears, fill us with disgust, throw us into a rage, inspire novel profanity, and threaten to destroy our sanity.

With a man from the thug-culture of Chicago, one who consorts with communists and terrorists, hates his own country, seeks to bankrupt it, destroy its health system, adulterate its magnificent culture, become the dictator of its economy, and who purports to be our legitimate President, standing before a joint session of the United States Congress blandly broadcasting one lie after another to the whole country, lies that are transparent, insult every literate American, sully the Office of the Presidency, and bring shame on our country, then there is no wonder that hands are being wrung and teeth gnashed.

You may say that these words are immoderate. This is no time for moderation. You may say that these words are alarmist. This is no time for complacency. You may say that these words are extremist. This is no time for timidity.

During Barack Obamas speech to Congress Wednesday night Congressman Joe Wilson reacted to these times. At a point in the speech he shouted, "You lie!"

The other congressmen sat in shocked silence. But Joe Wilson is a freshman and has not had time to become acculturated into the Congress. He has not yet learned the rules, doesnt know that freshmen are to be seldom seen and even more seldom heard, has not learned to cower in the corner like a frightened dog under assault by the politically-correct media. Just in from the hinterland, his voice is the vox populi.

Wilson has taken much criticism, much of it from his own Republican Party, especially from the prissy, supercilious John McCain. The only thing I criticize Wilson for is the apology that he made to Obama. That was a mistake. He should have stood firm. In fact I wish that he had walked out, and taken any who have any vestige of patriotism lingering in their souls with him. By remaining in the chamber, listening in respectful silence, sometimes applauding, the Members lent their prestige to what the President was saying, implied that his torrent of lies were just fair debate, and helped to nudge our country down the road to tragedy.

Why this stupid behavior? Because our elected leaders still dont get it. In their cognition they are as first-day kindergartners, sitting in silence, awed by their surroundings, fearful of making a misstep, careful to do only what those surrounding them do, hoping this surreal scene will soon pass away. Our country is tottering on the precipice and they behave as though we are in a conventional Republican-Democrat political fight. But we are not. The fight is between patriots who love their country on one side, and, on the other, Obama and his Marxist gang who want to bring us down. The division is every bit that stark.

I tried to get through on Joe Wilsons web page to leave him a congratulatory note, but I got a message saying that traffic was so heavy that the site was overloaded and inoperative. I venture the guess that most of the messages flowing in were complimentary, as mine will be when finally I get through.

Joe Wilson is the only leader in view. Let all patriots rise up and follow him!
